April 19 2024 is National Education and Sharing Day
This year is the 46th celebration of National Education and Sharing day proposed by the U.S. Congress in 1978 and designated by President Jimmy Carter. The holiday falls every year on the birthday of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson who was a global force in promoting high quality academic and ethical education for all children. This holiday is unusual among U.S. holidays in that it is celebrated on the Rebbe’s birthday, four days before Passover, on the Hebrew calendar and so it falls on a different U.S. calendar day every year.
The Rebbe was quoted as saying that the goal of Education and Sharing Day is to “put greater emphasis on the promotion of fundamental human rights and obligations of justice and morality, which are the basis of any human society, if it is to be truly human and not turn into a jungle.”
